MICHAEL ANDRUSIAK Mike passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the Gimli Community Health Centre at the age of 91 years. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Diane (Don) Hrehoruk, Larry (Gladys) Andrusiak, Valerie (Peter) Nosaty and Connie Andrusiak; grandchildren, Daniel (Debbie) Nosaty, Nancy Safranuik, Michael (Nicole) Hrehoruk, Cindy Andrusiak and Sherry (Ken) Mullin; and great-grandchild, Chance Safranuik. He was predeceased by his wife Helen on June 10, 2006; his parents, Iwan and Anna Andrusiak; brothers, Nicholas and Steve; sisters, Stefania Andrusiak, Helen Spulnik, Polly Rogodzinski and Mary Blizniuk. Mike was born on June 6, 1916, grew up on the farm in Meleb, then worked in Winnipeg for a short time until enlisting in the army. He married Helen in 1944, they farmed and lived in Meleb until moving to Gimli in 2001. Although farming and some carpentry were his first passions, he still found time to serve at the Cumming School Board, Meleb School Board, volunteer at the Meleb Church, cemetery and sang in the Meleb Church Choir. While living in Gimli, he enjoyed a slower pace of life, visiting and card playing with family and friends. Prayers will be said on Sunday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Gimli. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Church with Fr. Harry Chuckry officiating. Interment will take place in the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Meleb (#7 Hwy.) following the lunch. Pallbearers will be Daniel Nosaty, Nancy Safranuik, Michael Hrehoruk, Cindy Andrusiak, Sherry Mullin and Garry Krochainski. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
