Psalm 103:1 On Wednesday evening, March 5, 2008, Wilhelm (Bill) Enns passed away and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus. In the last difficult days of his battle with cancer he was surrounded by the love and prayers of his family and community. Wilhelm Enns was born on September 21, 1932 and grew up on his family's farm near Springstein, Manitoba. His early life was filled with school, work on the family farm, and involvement in Springstein Mennonite Church where his father was pastor. Dad attended Mennonite Collegiate Institute in Gretna, Manitoba for grade 12, where he met Elsie Tiessen who became his wife and life partner in 1956. They settled on a farm near Springstein where he farmed grain and poultry until he retired in the late 1990's. Dad loved farming and pursued farming as a calling to feed the world. He was a man of faith for whom the church was the central focus of his life. Many will remember him for his love of music and for his participation in choirs throughout his life. Two children, Kerry and Michelle, became a part of the Enns family and experienced the love, patience and faith that characterized Dad as a father. Wilhelm was predeceased by his parents, Wilhelm and Katherine Enns and his older brother Herman Enns. He is survived by his wife Elsie, his daughter Michelle, his son Kerry and wife Gina, and by his beloved grandsons Kieran and Brendan. He is also survived by his sister Anna Reimer, his sister Elizabeth (Ed) Enns, sister-in-law Estelle Enns, and his brother Conn Enns. The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the many people who supported Dad with their prayers and visits during the difficult time of his illness. The staff of the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care unit deserve special thanks for the excellent care and support that they offered during the last days of Dad's life. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 10, 2:00 p.m. at Springstein Mennonite Church, with interment following in the church cemetery. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

It's been five years this month since my dad passed away. The years of illness before he died were very difficult but as time goes on my memories of those difficult times are fading. In their place I recall the many hours I spent with him on the farm listening to his non-stop commentary about anything about which it was possible to have an opinion, his love of music and worship, and his devotion to following Christ in his daily life which was evident in his kindness and deep-seated compassion for others. I was truly blessed to call him Dad. When I look at his picture and see the kindness in his eyes I long to once again sit with him and in doing so feel the peace and assurance that everything is going to be all right. "For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him." (Ps. 103:11) - Posted by: Kerry Enns (Son) on: Mar 18, 2013
