URHO MIKAEL DART (SLIM) 1915 - 2008 Peacefully on March 6, 2008 Urho Dart passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 93 years. Born at Karijoki, Finland, February 8, 1915. The family immigrated to Canada in March 1924, settling at Thunder Bay (Port Arthur then). Following schooling there and studies in Accounting, starting in 1935. He worked at various locations including Nakina in Sioux Lookout. And in 1939 he started with Patricia at Hudson Transportation Company. He left them in 1960 and got involved in sawmilling and pulpwood business at Ear Falls, ON. He and his partner sold the business in 1967 and began his retirement. He and wife Margaret spent winter's in Hawaii, Florida, Mexico, and Arizona. They sold their home at Ear Falls in 1984 and moved to Victoria, B.C., and then to Winnipeg. He leaves to survive his dear wife Margaret of 70 years, two daughters Jeannine (Bill) Balicky of Winnipeg, and Sheila (Allen) Birtle, of Surrey B.C. and son Byron (Janet) Campbell of River, B.C., sister Wilma Burns, of Thunder Bay, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren the oldest 22. As per Urho's request cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial service will be held.
