REJANE MARIE CHRISTA KRASEY (nee TOUTANT) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Rejane Marie Christa Krasey (Toutant). She died peacefully with family at her side on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the age of 77. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Michelle and sons, Lloyd (Heather), Russell (Heather), Chris, Mitchell and Peter (Teresa); her brother Real (Aurore) and sisters, Bettina, Rosita (Napoleon) and Noelle; her grandchildren, Tara (Darren), Amanda, Troy (Melissa), Carla, Joshua, April, Andrew, Lena (Paul), Stephen, Adam, Thomas, Darion and Devin; great-grandchildren, Calleigh, Dante and one on the way; numerous beloved extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Theophile and Philomene Toutant; sisters, Marcel, Lucienne and Reine, infant sister Noelle and infant brother Real as well as her children, Desiree, John and Lisa. Rejane was born in Cardinal, Manitoba on April 5, 1930. Even though the family was poor they lived with love and dignity. By 1942 Theophile Toutant had had enough of trying to scratch a living out of a quarter section of land in Manitoba so he moved his entire family to BC where he started working in the forest industry. Life improved for the entire family. It was difficult for a French speaking family to integrate into BC but they did and prospered. Our Mother recounts a story; she was 12 at the time, in the Union Station in Winnipeg she saw the first Chinese lady she had ever seen. The Lady was dressed in silk and looked like a doll; my Mother remembered that experience fondly. Even though our Mother excelled at school, due to circumstances she was only able to complete grade nine. She worked at a variety of jobs including dairy farming and working at the Misericordia Hospital providing kitchen services. Rejane met John Krasey in Winnipeg in 1952 and they were married in 1954. Our Mother then took on her most challenging and fulfilling role as our Mother, provider, guide, confidant and friend, to her brood of one daughter and five sons. Rejane and John divorced in 1971, John passed away in 2007. Rejane did the usual Manitoba - BC migration several times over her life. Her house was always open to numerous friends, neighbors and nephews who lived with us at various times. Our Mother liked to have a full house all of the time. She was a devoted follower of the Roman Catholic faith. Her greatest gift in life was her family and faith. Among her joys was her love of travel. Her travel experiences were vast and included Australia, France to visit our Lady of Lourdes, Portugal, Israel for a pilgrimage through the holy land following in the steps of Jesus Christ, Japan, Russia and many other cruises with son Mitchell. Our Mother was most happy being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She provided all of her children with a tremendous example of how to live, to have integrity, kindness, discipline and intelligence. She will be missed by anyone who has had the honor of being part of her life. Prayer services will be at Desjardins Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at Desjardins Funeral Chapel on , Thursday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. Family and Friends are invited to sign the book of condolences at www.desjardins-funeral.ca DESJARDINS FUNERAL CHAPEL 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
