ANNA YARESKO
Born: Apr 19, 1913
Date of Passing: Mar 09, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA YARESKO Peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2008, Anna's time on this earth came to an end. She leaves to mourn her passing, her only daughter Sonia, son-in-law Walter, grand-daughters Natalia (Bob), Tara (Ross), great-grandchildren Joshua, Elise, Luke, and many nieces and nephews in Ukraine. Anna was born April 19, 1913 in Mykolajivka, Poltava Oblast, Ukraine into a large harmonious family. Her idyllic childhood was too soon interrupted by horrific events. She lived to witness and survive enslavement and persecution under a communist regime, the horrors of a genocidal famine, the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and the tragic events of the Second World War. She fled her homeland with husband Polikarp to begin a new life in her adopted country, Canada, where she at last found freedom, opportunity and contentment. She lovingly raised her small family to value the richness of her traditions, culture and religious beliefs. She never forgot her homeland and yearned for the time when Ukraine would become free and independent. When this miraculous event did occur, she gave thanks to God and followed subsequent events with much interest. Anna was greatly respected and loved by all who knew her for her gentle and personable good-natured ways. She will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. T. Babick for his dedicated care and the staff at the Concordia Hospital N3 West, for their kindness, attention and understanding. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary the Protectress Sobor, 820 Burrows Ave. with Rev. Fr. Dr. J. Buciora officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Metropolitan Ilarion Centre, 820 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2X 0R2.
