Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEO FELIX DESROCHERS March 28, 1920 - March 7, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home at the age of 87 years. Leo will be greatly missed by Yvonne, his wife of 64 years, daughter Jeanette, son-in-law Ron, grandson Darryl (Cindy), granddaughter Denise (Bryan) and great-grandchildren Connor and Courtney, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ovila and Marie-Louise and his four brothers Alexander, Phil, Albert and Ovide. Leo was born on March 28, 1920 in Mariapolis and married his wife Yvonne on November 17, 1943. He farmed with his Dad and brothers in the Baldur, Mariopolis area until moving to Glenboro in 1945 where he worked for Canada Packers, the Manitoba Telephone System and then became the Superintendent of the Glenboro Golf Course and the Icemaker/ Superintendent of the Glenboro Hockey and Curling Arenas. In 1969 Leo and Yvonne moved to Winnipeg and became the caretakers of Westwood House before both retiring in 1985. Having only a limited education, he worked extremely hard at every job that he ever undertook. He carried out his duties with a great deal of pride and did it to the best of his ability. He lived a simple life with the most cherished things being his wife and family. He also spent a great deal of time and energy caring for any vehicle that he ever owned. Leo worked side by side with his wife Yvonne and one would say that they were not only joined at the hip but all the way from the shoulders. He enjoyed golfing and curling and in his later years loved to play Bingo and go to the Casino. Amongst his accomplishments were two holes-in-one at the Glenboro Golf Club. He was fortunate to have lived a healthy life until November of 2006 when his health quickly deteriorated. From that date he spent a great deal of time in the Grace Hospital and as of January, 2008 moved to the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home. Leo's most treasured times were sharing visits from his family members and the ones that really put a smile on his face and a song in his heart were his great grandson Connor and his new great granddaughter Courtney. To the very end, he spoke of the children and how important they were to him. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff at the Grace Hospital (5 North) and to the entire staff at the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home for the excellent care and encouragement that they gave him. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Friday, March 14, 2008 at l2:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
