Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS MURIEL WADE (nee JONES) April 10, 1920 - March 10, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Phyllis Muriel Wade on March 10, 2008. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by Walter, her husband of 67 1/2 years, daughters Phyllis (Steve) Waite, Merylie (Jim) Houston, Karen (Bob) Binding and sons Jim (Pauline) and Bill. Loving Nana to grand-children Sara, Joel (Tana) and Rebecca (Antonio) Houston; Robert (Pam), Michael and Peter Waite; Rob, Dave and Kathy Binding; Joy (Duane), Julie Wade and great Nana to Kyle and Tyler Waite; Lucy and Milo Houston-Jardim; Charlotte Houston and Anika and Eliza Binding. Phyllis is also survived by her brother Larry of Perth Australia and many nieces and nephews. All the family newborns were blessed by Nana's hand knitted sweaters. Phyllis was born in Montreal, Quebec, eldest daughter of Elsie Lister Jones and William Horace Jones and completed high school in Montreal. Mom was renowned for her Seville orange marmalade. It was used in numerous church fundraisers and on Dad's toast. Phyllis and Walter spent 24 wonderful, happy years at the cottage at East Blue Lake. Mom's interests were bird watching and wild flowers which she studied and collected for the wild flower garden . Phyllis completed the loon survey for East and West Blue Lakes for Nature Conservancy. Mom enjoyed many of the family camping, fishing, hunting and skiing trips. Mom was presented a Master Angler Rainbow Trout Specialist Award by Manitoba Conservation in 1985. She was an avid deer hunter with Dad, Bill, Jim and friends at Deloraine. Phyllis was active in Girl Guides in Montreal and Moncton where her children grew up. She was active Anglican Church Women in Moncton, Montreal and Winnipeg. Phyllis was instrumental in developing the Fort Garry Seniors Centre. It was through the Centre that Mom became an accomplished painter in oils. A celebration of Phyllis' life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 673 Silverstone Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
