ANNE BOHONOS With her devoted daughter Marlene and beloved granddaughter, Tracy by her side to help with her peaceful journey, it is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Bohonos (nee Fadyshyn) at the age of 88 years, our Mother, Baba, Dear Sister, Aunt, and special friend to everyone, on Sunday, March 9, 2008, in Winnipeg. Remaining to forever cherish Anne's memory are her daughter Marlene Havelock; son Gordon Bohonos; step-children Elsie (Nestor) Cherniak, Lorne (Audrey) Bohonos; siblings, Nellie (Alfred) Rumpel, Paul (Margaret) Fadyshyn, Pat Fadyshyn, Matt Fadyshyn; her grandchildren, nieces, nephew and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Fred Bohonos; parents Martha and Mike Fadyshyn; her older brother Bill Fadyshyn; younger sisters Helen Pugh and Lena La Tour, whom we just recently lost. Anne was born on October 14, 1919, in Rossburn, Manitoba. Anne and Fred were married in 1943. Marlene and Gordon soon joined the combined family which already included Elsie and Lorne from Fred's previous marriage. She always loved them as if they were her own. Working hard her whole life, Anne kept her yard and home immaculate. She worked at the Gimli hotel for 25 years and when Anne retired her leisurely years were spent cleaning cabins and babysitting, because you couldn't get her to sit still. The eminent chef, Anne was always busy in the kitchen and was well known for her exceptional perogy, pedeshky and holopchi among her other many dishes and baking. If she didn't have anything on hand, she'd make you wait while she put something together for you to eat. She loved her family and never had a bad thing to say to anyone. Anne always felt that forgiveness was better than bitterness, even when it was not deserved. Her yard and garden were her prized possessions and she took great pride in showing them off. Her hospitality meant that you never left hungry, thirsty or wanting for Bailey's . Anne loved her special friends and always kept them close to her heart. She loved animals, especially her birds J.J. and Chico. Anne will be sadly missed by all that touched her heart. In compliance with Anne's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held and a private interment will take place this summer in Sandy Hook, Manitoba where Anne will be laid to rest. Thanks go to Fran and Owen Pendree for their love and support as well as, the special nurses at HSC for their kindness and caring during Anne's last days. In lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
