MARGARET MARY THOMPSON MOCOGNI Peacefully on March 11, 2008 at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, with her daughters at her side, Mum passed away. Predeceased by her beloved husband Louis in 1974, Mum is survived by her daughters, Louise and husband Alf; Margie Brincheski and husband Bob; grandchildren, Gloria, Patrick, Eric and Stuart; sisters-in-law, Virginia Cardwell of Winnipeg and May Brandeschi of Northampton, UK, as well as many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Mum was born in Hawick, Scotland in 1920. She and Dad immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Pointe du Bois until 1974. Her life at the Pointe was an adventure that she and Dad enjoyed with the many friends they made there. In 1974 Mum started a new life in Winnipeg, working at Central Park Lodge until she retired in 1985. During these years she filled her time travelling, taking classes, sewing, knitting and spending time with her family. At retirement, Mum moved to Lac du Bonnet to be near Margie and her cherished grandchildren. Mum enjoyed her retirement to the fullest. She was an avid volunteer and served her community through her involvement with the Legion Auxiliary, the Rebeccas, St. John's Anglican ACW, Lac du Bonnet Health Auxiliary, and Adult Day Care. Mum was a very special person. To us, she knew how to do almost anything, and could answer any question we asked. She was an excellent seamstress, with an innate ability to decorate, could knit from any pattern and spent years decorating cakes for everything from anniversaries to weddings. We did not know what it was like to have store bought clothes until we were well into our teens. There wasn't a week went by that we didn't have to ask her advice on how to do something. Mum was a special friend or Auntie Margaret to so many, from new immigrants to Canada who were welcomed into her home instantly; to our friends, who adopted her as their Auntie. Mum was our friend, mentor, advisor, teacher as well as the best mother ever. She will be missed dearly. You are loved Mum. We would like thank the staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for their attentive care of Mum over the past two and one half months; Home Care, whose workers have been taking care of Mum for the past few years and Dr. Van Gend for his most sensitive treatment of Mum. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. John's Anglican Church in Lac du Bonnet. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lac du Bonnet Legion Hall on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
