Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH EVANS In the morning of March 11, 2008, Ruth Evans, age 87 years, passed away at the Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ellen Evans. Ruth was born February 9, 1921 in Winnipeg, after her parents immigrated to Canada from England. She was a lifelong resident of the St. James area. She was a hardworking individual and was a longtime employee of Eaton's for over 40 years. She held various positions including office work, jewelry department and finally in the catalogue department. Ruth was a great story teller and enjoyed talking about her working days at Eaton's. After she retired, she was never without something to do. She eagerly anticipated cottage season where she would spend her summers in Loni Beach in Gimli, MB. During this time she was able to visit her dear friend Mavis. Ruth continued her journeys to the cottage until the last 2 years as she struggled with failing eyesight and other health challenges. She was a very social person and loyal friend, and would help anyone who needed her. Ruth had a quick wit, good sense of humour, and enjoyed teasing her friends. She was a wonderful friend and neighbour and touched many lives. Ruth was a proud and independent woman who enjoyed the simple things in life - flowers, her home and cottage, animals, friends and a good cup of tea. Those friends and neighbours who knew Ruth will forever miss her and cherish her memory. A graveside service will take place Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
