JEAN MAXINE ALLAN (nee ALEXANDER) Peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2008, Jean passed away at her residence at the age of 76 years. Jean was born on January 5, 1932 in Minnedosa, Manitoba, where she was the second youngest of 12 children. Mom spent her youth and completed her schooling, surrounded by a close-knit community and family where she developed everlasting relationships. As a teenager mom was a gifted athlete. She excelled in track and field and softball. Throughout her adult years she was involved in numerous sporting activities as both a spectator and participant. She was active in curling and bowling, where she won numerous trophies. In her early retirement years, she took up golfing and spent many afternoons at Crescentwood with her sisters, Shirley and Donna Mae. Mom started her work career at Chipperfields in Minnedosa and then moved to Winnipeg where she began her career in the banking industry. After over 30 years of dedication and commitment to various banks, she eventually retired from the Bank of Montreal in 1992. Mom was predeceased by: her parents, Birt and Mary; brothers, Don, Ralph, Harold, Jack, Bill and Russ; sisters, Blanche, Margaret and Gladys. She is survived by her four children, whom she raised on her own: Murray (Karen) and grandson Stewart; Sharon and grandson Justin; Karen (Darren), and granddaughter Sydney; Jody (David) and grandsons, Dylan and Jacob. She is also survived by two sisters, Shirley and Donna Mae. Mom/nana will be fondly remembered and forever cherished by family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Alan Armstrong officiating.
