Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ISABEL HJORLEIFSON After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Isabel passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Isabel was born June 12, 1937 in Treherne, MB. She is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Janet Appleby, and her grandson Ryan. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Roy, sons Ron and Tom (Kim); daughters Darlene (Roger) Fridfinnson and Karen (Shaun) Clarke; brother William (Maryanne) Appleby; sister Edna (Jim) Hull; nine grandchildren, Vincent, Sheena, Tyler, Sally, Stephanie, Colby, Jake, Danny and Rebecca. Isabel enjoyed re-finishing antique furniture, creating beautiful stained glass pieces, woodworking and gardening. Her home is a testimony to her talents and creativity. There was rarely a job she wouldn't tackle, from re-facing her kitchen cabinets to re-tiling the floor and countless other home renovation projects. Isabel made many friends through work as a care-giver at the old manor, secretary at the Arborg Creamery, clerk at Johnson and Sons dept. store, secretary for Walker, Cristall and Pandya law office, and as a care-aide at the Arborg personal care home. She also, at the tender age of 17 taught in a rural country school on a one year permit. She moved to Winnipeg and worked for Pioneer grain Co. until leaving to marry Roy. Thank-you to Dr. Beukas, Dr. Shenouda and all the nursing staff at Arborg and District Health Centre for their loving care. Also, thank you to Dr. R. Stimpson and Dr. Latosinski at Cancer Care, Health Sciences Centre. Thank you to her oncologist, Dr. R. Wong at the St. Boniface Hospital, and to Julie, at the Gimli Community Health Centre, the wonderful chemotherapy nurse. She loved you all and told her family this many times throughout her ordeal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care at Arborg and District Health Centre, Cancer Care at Health Sciences Centre, or the Arborg Ladies Auxiliary (where she was a member) A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 24 in the United Church in Winnipeg Beach (where Isabel once taught Sunday school) at 2:00 p.m. with Judy Limpright officiating.
