JOSEPHINE (JO) LENORE DE PENCIER December 8, 1910 - March 18, 2008 Josephine passed away peacefully on March 18, 2008, at the age of 97. Known to her friends and family as Jo, she lived in her own home until last summer and felt great pride in being a Winnipeger where she was born, raised and lived her entire life. Jo began working at age fifteen at Winnipeg Electric now Manitoba Hydro and worked there for 49 years!! After retirement, Jo was a dedicated volunteer at Grace General Hospital and the Canadian Red Cross. Jo was predeceased by brothers and sisters and their spouses including: Ed (Ria), Bud (Nora), Charlie (Peggy), Betty (Dave) and Bob. She is survived by her sister, Edie Kirk (Frank) of Plano, Texas, and her sister-in-law, Sheila de Pencier (Bob), of Surrey, BC. Family meant everything to Jo. She had many nieces and nephews including Theo living in England, Bobbie, Gary, Gerry, Katie, Theo, Mike, Greg, Lorrie, David, Alan, Dale, Rick, Wayne, Lenni and Cathy. In Winnipeg, Jo was especially loved and will be missed by her family who live there - niece, Bobbie de Pencier (Kathie Love), Bobbie's son and Jo's great nephew, Chad de Pencier (Joanne) and longtime family friend, Betje Jacobs. Jo was delighted when her great-great-niece, Brooke (daughter of Chad and Joanne), was born in Winnipeg on September 10, 2005, the same day as Jo's beloved mother, Katherine Mildred de Pencier, was born in 1884. The de Pencier Family and their friends wish to thank the dedicated staff of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority-Home Care Program and River Park Gardens Personal Care Home the family wants the staffs there to know that she continually spoke of the loving care and attention she received from them. Jo's ashes will be forever with her family members in Surrey, BC and a family gathering will be held there to remember her. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or to Grace General Hospital, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.
