Date of Passing: Mar 20, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICK WYRCHOWNY December 20, 1932 March 20, 2008 We miss him very much But he is in a better place. Nick Wyrchowny passed to the next life in the early hours of the first day of spring, March 20, 2008 succumbing to leukemia. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he leaves behind his wife Joyce, son Neil (Lily) with grandchildren Alycia, Paul and Sean, son Garth (Jennifer) with grandchild Samantha and so many friends and relatives. Nick was born and raised in Dauphin and found the love of his life in nearby Ste Rose du Lac. Moving a little around Manitoba, Nick and his bride, Joyce, eventually found home in Stonewall in 1962. Nick worked for 32 years in the Department of Water Resources for the Province of Manitoba, retiring in 1993, and won the respect of anyone who worked with him. In his personal life, he enjoyed his curling and golf, and Nick was someone you could rely on for help with pretty much anything that needed to get done. Nick truly loved his friends and extended family and anyone who came over to visit Nick knew there would be PLENTY of food on the table. The family wishes to thank Nick's doctors, all of whom tried so hard. After two heart surgeries and the leukemia the list is staggeringly long and they were all wonderful. Special thanks also go out to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Stonewall for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided for Nick in the past months. Huge thanks also to the members of the community who helped our family through this difficult time. Serving others to the very end, the body has been contributed to the University of Manitoba for the advancement of medicine. Memorial service will be held at Christ the King Church, 315 Second Street East in Stonewall on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Nick never wanted to be a burden on anyone so he was plain in saying that if you can't make it, Go to church one Sunday and give blood. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Canadian Blood Services and give blood.
