JOSEPH BILAWKA 1927 - 2008 On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, the Lord sent down His Angels for our Father, at the age of 81. Peacefully, he passed away, with his wife and children by his side. Dad was born in Rossburn on March 5, 1927. Joseph is survived by his wife Lillian, of 57 years; and his three children, Lorne (Dale) of Calgary, AB, Beverlee (Grant) and Vern (Cheryl), both from Winnipeg; also four grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Kalina, Towen, Brendan and Zachary; sisters, Anne Horbec, Mary Kondrat, Eva Smith and brothers, Matt and Peter. He was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Nellie Bilawka; sister Daisy and brothers, Bill and Mike. Most recently Kalina and Towen from Calgary made a trip to visit Gido. Joseph remembered his wife from the first day of Grade One and wearing a white dress. Dad married Mom on October 11, 1951. During their life together they were able to travel to the Bahamas for their 25th Wedding Anniversary along with their children. They were also fortunate in being able to visit his old home in the Ukraine and to be able to see parts of France. Most of the summer months were spent with their travel trailer and enjoying the life around them. He enjoyed the garden and loved the tomatoes, and with help from his daughter had a crop that nobody could compete with. Dad was employed at the St. James Hotel for over 25 years. Dad, although you will be sadly missed, we are comforted knowing that you are safe in The arms of the Lord . We will remember you with love! Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m., March 27, 2008, at St. Basil's Parish, 202 Harcourt St. Funeral service at 10:00 a.m., March 28, also at St. Basil's Parish. The family would like to thank all at Grace Hospital, to Dr. George, the nurses, Gianna and Rianna. Thank you for the care and compassion that you have shown in our time of need.
