MYCHAJLO DEMJANEW On Easter Monday, March 24, 2008 the Lord released Mychajlo Demjanew after a lengthy illness. Mychajlo was born in selo Korniw, Ukraine on December 7, 1925. He came to Bissett, Manitoba in 1948 to work on the San Antonia Gold Mine. In 1954 he met and married his loving wife Sophia and returned to Bissett to work at the mine, to fish, hunt and pick blueberries. In 1963, Mychajlo moved to Winnipeg with Sophia and their two daughters. He was employed at East West Packers as a meat cutter for 26 years until he retired in 1989. Dad loved to garden and enjoyed the fruits of his labour. He always longed to see the robins who nested in his apple tree survive. He was a longtime member of Holy Eucharist Church parish, choir and perogy group. Dad was predeceased by daughter Theresa in March 2003. He is remembered by wife Sophia; daughter Marilyn; son-in-law Earl Jessop; granddaughter Samantha; nephews, nieces in Alberta; his sister Wasylyna and brother Bohdan; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Ukraine. The family would like to thank Dr. Pat Harris and all the nurses and staff at CancerCare and Concordia Hospital for the care given to Dad during his illness. Order of Burial for Bright Week will be sung 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 28 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe Ave. at Watt St. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 29 also at the church.
