Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCY (PAT) GAMEY (nee SNYDER) Pat Gamey died peacefully of old age on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Golden West Centennial Lodge. She was 96 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband F. Stanley in 1977, her parents Victor and Elizabeth Ellen Snyder many years ago, and her older sisters Mary Webb in 1990 and Margaret Reid in 2003. Pat is survived by her three daughters Katharine, Janet Schick and Marianne (Joe) Boll; four grandchildren Adam (Tamara McPhail), Morgen and Kalen Schick, and Caroline Boll; two great-grandchildren Ella and Nola Schick McPhail, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Pat was born in Winnipeg April 22, 1911 at home, and lived on the same street most of her life. She had a happy childhood surrounded by many cousins and a large extended family. She breezed through school and finished her education at Wesley College (University of Winnipeg). Pat had a wonderful time there and met many new friends, including her future husband. She graduated in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts and later worked at the college as Assistant Registrar for seven years until her marriage to Stan in 1941. Pat enjoyed her role of homemaker and mother. Education was a high priority for her and she was very proud when all three daughters graduated from the University of Manitoba. She always had time for friends who dropped by to see her and loved nothing more than a good visit over a cup of tea. Her grandchildren have many loving memories of the time spent with her, helping in her garden or walking down to the creek and learning the name of any weed or flower they encountered. Her knowledge of literature, the natural world, and ordinary everyday things around her was truly amazing. She had boundless energy and good health. Pat lived in her riverside home built by her father until she was ninety. Her independence ceased with a bad fall in October, 2001. She was later placed in Golden West Centennial Lodge. The family is grateful to the staff for their kindness and compassionate care. Pat's forthright manner, quick wit and jolly laugh will be missed by all who knew her. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, if friends wish, they may make a donation in her memory to a charity of their choice.
