JOHN ROSS ACUTT May 30, 1934 - March 28, 2008 Peacefully on March 28, Ross passed away at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife Joan; his daughter Lisa Neron and son-in-law Jean; son Christopher, daughter-in-law Lisa and grandsons Sean and Jamie; son Michael and daughter-in-law Laura; son Jason, daughter-in-law Sandra and grandson Cameron; and his furry friend Mackie the cat. He was predeceased by his parents John and Grace. Ross was born in Melville, Saskatchewan. He moved to Winnipeg in 1956. He met Joan there and they married in 1958. Earlier in his career, Ross worked for architectural companies in Saskatchewan and Winnipeg, logging companies in British Columbia, Department of Mines and Technical Surveys and Canadian National Railway Express (Saskatchewan). He started a 32-year career with Manitoba Hydro in 1961 as an Engineering Aid in Rural Distribution. Five years later, he transferred to Distribution Standards and progressed to the position of Technical Assistant II, from which he retired in 1993. After retirement, Ross kept busy volunteering at the Manitoba Red Cross office in Winnipeg. Ross's special interests were camping, fishing, woodworking and motorcycle road trips. Ross's family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Place Personal Care Home for taking such good care of him for the last two years. Thanks also go to the caring doctors and nurses in GB3 and GA4 at the Health Science Centre. In accordance with Ross's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Ross will be cremated and his ashes interred alongside his parents in Neepawa, Manitoba, at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Instead, donations may be made in Ross's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Manitoba Red Cross or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
