KALVIN JOHN OSBORNE (ROSE) November 21, 1965 - March 26, 2008 It is with overwhelming grief that we announce the passing of Kalvin John Osborne also known as Rose. Kalvin life was violently taken from him and from us the night of March 26, 2008. Our grief is only eased by the certain knowledge that waiting for him in God's home are parents Justine(2005) and Joseph (1997) and our sister, Helen Betty and our brothers Gordon, Tommy, Wallace Franklin. Also to greet him will be his nephews, Allan William Campbell, Vernon Joseph Cameron, Larry Goosehead and Little Steve and his Uncles Zack Hamilton, John William McKay, Tommy McKay, Billy Osborne, and Aunts Marie Louise Ross (Silas), Gladys Miller and Bella Evans. Kalvin leaves to mourn his passing, Isaiah (Rita), William K., Joseph, Cecilia, Cindy (Dave), Douglas (Belinda), Mark, Andrew, Joan and many nephews, nieces and cousins and many relatives from Cross Lake and Norway House. His many friends, Gayle Pruden, Reggie Ross, Theresa Sandy and children, Connie, Wanda, Veronica, Phoebe Marie Flett and Family, Stacy Bluebird (Toronto), Ronnie Balfour, Carol Monias, Ste, Bernadette Ross, Audy, Ramona, Steve, Angel, Clark, Maddy, Ally, Margorie and Maggie McKay. Kalvin was born and raised in Norway House and left home as a teenager to pursue his dreams and live among people who accepted his lifestyle in Winnipeg. He worked as a general labourer and carpenters helper to support himself. He had many loving and trusted friends who supported each other through all kinds of weather. Kalvin had a graceful and joyful presence that indicated his acceptance of his identity and he was not ashamed to be himself. His own belief in himself showed us how to accept his expression of himself as he was. Our children loved their uncle Kalvin and he could always be counted on to be with his nieces and nephews when they needed him. He spent many hours taking them to the park, playing with them and just spending precious time and attention. He treated everyone equally and respectfully and got the same kind of respect back from all of his relations. Kalvin enjoyed going for walks with friends and visiting. He would had a circuit that he would walk, visiting with family and friends. He often provided the loving mediation and would hold people up with a smile when it was most needed. He was very thoughtful and often bought gifts for people just because he thought of them. In 2005, Kalvin was violently attacked and was in a comma for several days. When he came back to this world, he had to learn to live all over again, remembering how to eat, walk and talk. His strong will to live resulted in him gaining back all his language and motor skills. Despite this violence, Kalvin remained a gentle and fun-loving soul and held no judgement towards his attackers. Kalvin was active in the work of the Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Foundation named in honor of our sister. He would assist at all the Foundations events and was very proud of the fact that many students benefited from this work. In this work he developed very special relationships, especially with Marcy Richard. His presence and support will always be remembered. We would like to thank all Kalvin's friends at Nine Circles and Sage House Muchipunowin Program of Norway House Cree Nation, Broadway Pharmacy and relatives of Cross Lake and Norway House, Thompson Funeral Services, Winnipeg Police Service Homocide Unit, Manitoba Justice Victims of Crime Program.
