Date of Passing: Mar 28, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET (MARGUERITE) HELEN NEUFELD (nee KLASSEN) July 17, 1927 - March 28, 2008 Margaret passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She is survived by her sister, Frances Miller (Barney), two nieces Charlotte Cels (Tom) and Carla Schnitzler (Russ Hall), and six grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Helen Klassen, her sister Sally Klassen, her husband Victor, her niece Corinne, and her brother-in-law Heinz Schnitzler. Margaret was born in a farm house near Starbuck, MB. When a fire destroyed her family home in town, she and her family moved to East Kildonan. After leaving school at a young age, Margaret worked at several places, most notably Winnipeg Electric, Eaton's, and Dominion Bridge. To this day she always looked forward to the monthly lunches with the D.B. girls. For years Margaret cared for her sister, Sally, who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis, as well as her ailing parents. In 1969 she married Victor Neufeld. Margaret enjoyed cooking and sewing and she made beautiful baby quilts. Until the last week of her life she was still working on the stuffed toys she made for the Christmas Cheer Board every year. As a little girl she sold Christmas cards door to door and made enough money to buy a set of salt and pepper shakers for her mother. Much later, she proudly displayed the awards she got for selling Avon. Margaret loved travelling and visited Europe, Asia, Alaska, Churchill and went on trips across Canada and the USA. On a trip to Spain she fell and broke her hip. After that, her health began to decline. Wanting to be closer to home, she bought a small cottage at Beausejour which she refurbished and enjoyed her time there. Margaret was a loving auntie to her nieces and their children. She was very devoted to her family and friends. We will miss her. Sleep well, Marg. Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Sharon Home and the wonderful staff at the Kanee Centre for their kindness to Margaret. In accordance with Margaret's wishes cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. Her ashes will be interred at her mother's gravesite at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Instead, donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
