LIL (ELIZABETH OLIVE) JACOBS Peacefully, at the Selkirk General Hospital, on Friday, March 28, 2008, Mrs. Lil Jacobs passed away at the age of 89 years. Lil leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Mildred and her husband Lorne Parker of Selkirk; granddaughter Susanne, her husband Rick and great-grandson Owen of Calgary; granddaughter Jennifer and fiancé Ryan of Calgary. She will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Wib; her brothers Roy (Ruby) and Harold (Ette); her sisters Norma (Jim) and Mildred (Jim); her sisters-in-law Florence, Sadie and Eva; and by one brother-in-law Albert. Lil (Elizabeth Olive) was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, to Norman and Rebecca Wylie and moved to Rathwell, Manitoba, at six months of age. She was raised and educated in Rathwell. She worked for the telephone system as a switchboard operator until she was married to Wib Jacobs March 24, 1943. They farmed together until their retirement in 1971. They remained on the homeplace together until Wib entered The Foyer in Notre Dame in 1988. In 1989 Lil moved to The Green Prairie Lodge in Rathwell where she lived until she moved to Selkirk in 2005. Lil took great pride and enjoyment in her flower gardens, her knitting, and having the coffee pot on for friends but most of all her family. She was known to many friends as Auntie Lil or Grandma Lil. The family would like to express their appreciation for the special loving care Lil received from the nurses during her stay at the Betel Home in Selkirk. As well the family would like to thank Dr. Demsas for his compassionate care. Funeral services will be held this Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Rathwell Memorial Hall, followed by interment in Woodlands Cemetery. Reverend Jim Haupt officiating. The active pallbearers will be Rheal Simon, Larry Bosc, Jack Wilson, Bill Nostedt, Ian Pritchard and Norm Phillipe. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill and Roland Walker and their daughters.
