Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENA SOMERS April 25, 1928 - March 29, 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother on March 29, 2008, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 79. Lena was born in Winkler on April 25, 1928. Her childhood days were spent in Elm Creek, Wingham area, later to Winnipeg where she worked at a sewing factory and retired from Polo Park Inn. Lena met Joseph Somers and married in 1958. Lena and Joe loved and raised four children. She loved planting flowers and gardening. Lena believed that the Lord Jesus Christ died for her. Lena is survived by two sons; Dennis (Debbie) of Regina, Ron (Wendy) of Brandon and daughter; Theresa (Ryan) of St. Claude, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters; Lydia Hildebrant, Betty (Harry) Klassen and one brother Peter Neufeld. Lena was predeceased by parents; Abe and Anna Neufeld, husband Joseph, daughter Linda-Jo, three brothers; Abe, John and Ernie Neufeld and sisters Anne and Martha. A celebration of Lena's life will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 1531 Pembina Hwy. In lieu of flowers and if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
