ARTHUR JAMES BALSILLIE Peacefully on Friday, March 28 2008, at the St. Boniface Hospital surrounded by love and after prayer with his family, Arthur James Balsillie left our world for paradise. Arthur is survived by his partner Tracy Wills, his mother Alice, his sons Justice and Carmine, sisters Bonnie (Bill) and Colleen (Jim). Also to mourn his passing is his niece Amber, nephews Alex and Ryan, Tracy's daughters Tyla (Scott) and Tamara (Danny), Tracy's parents Dolena and George and Arthur's close friend Ian Rabb. Arthur will be missed by his extended aunts, uncles, cousins in Manitoba, Alberta and Ontario. Arthur was predeceased by his father John. Arthur was born in Winnipeg, November 30, 1968. He attended school at Ralph Brown and St. John's High School in the north end. During his life Arthur had chosen many different areas of work but his favorite was following his mother's footsteps with a flair and passion for food and becoming a chef, working in many hotels and fine restaurants in and around Winnipeg. The last seven weeks since Arthur's diagnosis of lymphoma has been an emotional journey for all of us. Arthur faced his illness with courage and determination to accomplish what he had to, until the end. His concern for his family and friends were foremost and we each had our special time with him, which we will cherish forever. We could not have been able to get through this difficult time without the love and support of Arthur's many friends and family members. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you all, especially Ian who is our Rock of Gibraltar sharing your guidance and logic that held us together and taking on what was asked of you. Tracy, for filling Art's last ten weeks with your love, patience and care-giving. James, for the awesome fireworks display on the rooftop, Art's last night at the Health Sciences Centre. Kerri, for opening your heart and sharing a unique friendship with our son and brother, and your genuine concern for our family. To Froase, Colin, Tuzi, Blair, Roland, Onalee, Josh, Rebecca, Steve and Curtis for just being there at the drop of a hat, your presence was so much appreciated. Thanks everyone for your daily visits, calls, text messages, the generosity of food, flowers, cards and gifts but most of all, your unconditional love. Special thanks to Dr. Kasper and staff of the Health Sciences Centre for years of care and concern for Arthur. Thanks also to staff of D4 at the Health Sciences Centre, Cancer Care, and the Palliative Ward at St. Boniface Hospital. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway at Sherbrook. In lieu of flowers, an education trust fund will be established for Arthur's sons, Justice and Carmine. If you wish to make a donation please forward to Ian Rabb, 585 River Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 2S9. Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway Winnipeg, MB R3C 0X4 www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com
