HELENA ADA (POPPY) WILLIAMSON Poppy Williamson passed away on March 29, 2008 at Victoria Hospital at the age of 98. Poppy was born February 16, 1910 in Belfast, Ireland to George and Harriet Watkins and moved to Canada as a young girl where she ultimately became a resident of Fort Garry where she lived for over 60 years. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1988; her son Barrie in April 2004 and her siblings Tom, Ralph, Isabel and Harry. Poppy is survived by her Son Murray (Pat) of Minneapolis: daughter-in-law Claudia; grandchildren Kevin (Amie), James (Diane) Randall (Heather), John (Judy), Dean (Beth) and Sandra Robbins (Randy); nieces Marlene Hall, Sharon Chittic, Leslie Forniuk and nephew Ralph Watkins and 14 grandchildren who adored her stories of the Williamson and Watkins family history. Poppy was a past President of the Pembina Ladies Curling Club, a very active member of the Winnipeg branch of the Red Cross, and an active supporter of the Manitoba Conservative Party. In her younger years she was an active member of the Riverview Community club where she coached women's softball. She leaves behind a very caring family, many good friends and neighbors on Bathgate Bay were she resided for over 50 years, the Robinson family in Fort Garry and a very caring staff and special friend at the Waverly Residence where she resided for the past three years. A memorial service in celebration of life for family and friends has been scheduled for May 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
