Date of Passing: Mar 31, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES R. (JIM) MORROW Peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2008, at the Grace General Hospital. Jim passed away from cancer after a few weeks of illness at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Annie, Jim leaves behind three children, Larry, Marion and Donald, and five grandchildren Chris, Michael, Steven, Jennifer and Tyler. Jim was born in Southern Ontario and moved to Thunder Bay in 1959 to manage a heavy equipment repair shop. In 1967 the family moved to Winnipeg and he remained here until his death. Jim worked at many trades during his years. Farming, truck driving, heavy equipment operation, mechanic and manager were among his many occupations. Jim enjoyed helping others and fixing anything and everything. He tried to combine the two to help friends, neighbours, and anyone who was in need. He devoted many hours to maintaining and upgrading the family house. His pride and joy was his garage cum workshop behind the house which he built over a one-year period. Rarely a day went by in his life that he did not have a tool in his hand and a repair improvement or construction job of some kind on the go. Jim's last years were devoted to looking after Annie following her prolonged illness. He spent many hours attending to her and planning for her care and well-being. In closing, his family would like to thank all of the friends and neighbours who supported him in his final days. A special thanks go out to all the staff at the Grace Hospital in the Five North Ward. They were very supportive of Dad and his family and friends during his illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shealon Kuly Fund Through Variety the Children's Charity. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
