JOHN CHARLES (CHUCK) GOUTHRO Chuck Gouthro passed away at home on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the age of 80 after a considerable time spent dealing with refractory anemia. Chuck was predeceased by his beloved wife, Freda Jessie (nee Martin). He will be missed by his children, Steve and Jennifer of Brandon, MB, John and Rose Mary (Will, Jess, Ben and Dan) of Melbourne, Australia, Liza of Toronto, ON, Dan, Tony and Patti (Sara, Jesse, Katie), Cindy and Dean (Jenna and Liza) and Carmela and John (Heather, Daryl, and Jill). Chuck was a bombardier in the 3 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery for 25 years, traveling throughout Canada. He was stationed in Germany during the Cuban missile crisis, the building of the Berlin Wall and the Kennedy assassination. In 1964 he returned to Canada and was stationed in Winnipeg until he retired from the Armed Forces. He had a second career as a custodian for the Winnipeg School Division No. 1. Chuck was a loving father and grandfather who quietly enjoyed family times at celebrations such as Christmas and birthdays. His contributions in the kitchen ranged from cooking the turkey to making his family famous coleslaw. His sense of humour was a model for all his children and added richness to the lives of all who knew him. Chuck's kindness and generosity extended to the many cats and especially dogs that he shared his home with over the years. He will be remembered by his friends at the Bolton for his quiet acts of kindness. The family would like to extend our thanks to Dr. D.S Houston, and nurse Barb Hues at CancerCare Manitoba. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honour Chuck will be held on Friday, April 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Memorial Gardens and Funeral Chapel.
