VICTOR SOKULSKI October 24, 1925 - March 28, 2008 A heart of gold stopped beating, hard working hands went to rest, Vic passed away peacefully at the Pinawa Hospital on Friday, March 28, 2008. Vic is survived by his wife Helen, her children Dennis (Carol) and Sandra (Art), grandchildren Craig (Toni), Lisa (Lincoln) and Miles and great-grandchildren Hannah, Jack, Carter and Will. He was predeceased by his parents Nick and Thecla and brothers Walter and John. Vic was born in Winnipeg's North End and spent his entire life in the construction trades. His employment as Superintendent for BACM Construction brought him to Lac du Bonnet where he was involved with the construction of the Pinawa Town site in the early 1960s. He fell in love with the area and made many lasting friendships. He purchased his own property on the Winnipeg River where he ultimately settled upon his retirement from BACM. His legacy in life will be his love of life, sense of humour and compassion for others. Vic was always able to entertain with his tales of growing up in the North End of Winnipeg, the horseshoe games and his work experiences. Together, Vic and Helen enjoyed the beauty of the land, travelling, gardening, curling, music, golfing and attending Blue Jays Games. The neighbourhood birds enjoyed the generous winter fare with which they were provided. A special thank you goes to the staff of Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home and Pinawa Hospital for their care and compassion. At Vic's request, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place in the spring. Donations in Vic's memory may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home or the Pinawa Hospital. My life's been fullI've savoured much, Good friends, good times A loved one's touch.
