Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOIS CATHERINE MAUD BALFOUR (nee TAIT) May 18, 1928 - April 4, 2008 Deeply loved wife, a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. Survived by her husband of 59 years, Clive (The Rev. A. C. Balfour), children Jan Todd of Victoria; Gavin (Pat), Pembroke ON; Iain (Lori),San Marcos, CA; Shelagh, Alison Nye (Ben) and Andrew, Winnipeg, MB and by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, also by her sister Jill Smith (Dawson) of Victoria. Predeceased by her two brothers, Peter and Gerry. Lois met her husband while they were playing in an orchestra and continued her love of music until her death. She was a voracious reader and had a particular interest in English history and literature. A librarian before her marriage she volunteered at the local school in Winnipeg for over 17 years as a librarian and tutoring learning disabled children. She started and edited two Church newspapers in Winnipeg and Victoria and was able to find time to knit for her family and friends and to do custom knitting, all this while training, feeding and caring for six children and one husband. Memorial service at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Victoria, BC at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson's Centre, 813 Darwin Ave.,Victoria, BC ,V8X 2X7, or to St. Luke's Church, 3821 Cedar Hill Cross Road, Victoria, BC, V8X 2M6.
