PETER CHOBOTAR July 11, 1922 - April 1, 2008 Peacefully with family at his side, Peter Chobotar passed away on April 1, 2008, at Concordia Hospital. Beloved father of Jo-Ann Leighton and doting Didgo to his grandchildren, Kathyrn, Amanda and Kristiann and son-in-law Al, he will be sadly missed. He was predeceased by his wife Pauline a little over a year ago. Peter was born on July 11, 1922 in Sundown, MB, the second oldest in his family of eleven. He is survived by his oldest brother William, youngest brother Dennis, sisters Helen Shippit, Sophie Krestinsky Dorothy Campbell, and Jean Nuyts, Shirley Maser. He was predeceased by brothers, Nick, Mike and George, and parents John and Maria. Peter grew up working on the family farm and then as a cook at a lumber camp in the Fort Frances, ON area. He eventually moved to Winnipeg where he met his bride, Pauline and was married in 1948. Peter worked at Burn's food for more then 40 years and retired in 1987. Peter loved to go to the family cottage and spend time with friends and family. He also enjoyed walking and made countless new friends and stayed in touch with old friends in his treks around the city. He selflessly devoted himself to his wife and when she became ill; he took over caring for her every day needs and all the day to day running of the household. Didgo also loved to spoiled his grandchildren take them on picnics, drives and to just spend time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Please join us on Friday, April 11, 2008 to celebrate Peter's life. Viewing 1:30 p.m., funeral service at 2:00 p.m., followed by interment then a light lunch at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to The King's School, 851 Panet Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2K 4C9. Donation receipts will be issued.
