Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT GEORGE WRIGHT Robert George Wright passed away suddenly at his home in Killarney on April 1, 2008. Bob was born September 26, 1925 in the Oaklake area, and was raised and schooled in Griswold, MB. Bob served his country in Europe in 1944 -1945, returning from Germany in 1946. After the war he resided in Brandon, MB where he met the love of his life, his wife Alice. The couple raised two girls, Robin and Joan, and a son Bill. Dad worked in the brewing industry most of his life starting in 1953 with Brewery Products in Brandon until the company folded at the end of 1960. He then went on to work for Carling's in Brandon and was later transferred to Winnipeg in 1974. In 1976 Associated Beer Distributors was formed and Dad went on to work for them. In 1984 he transferred back to Brandon to run a small satellite warehouse. Bob's working years could be hard on him physically but he knew how to have fun, as his co-workers would surely tell you. One of his many expressions was Who has more fun than us dummies? In 1983 he suffered a severe heart attack and decided to retire in 1986. Mom and Dad spent their retirement years living first at their cottage at Clear Lake then in Brandon and finally in Killarney, MB. Dad was a small town person and took to life in Killarney like a duck to water. He soon made many friends, but Dad could travel anywhere in Manitoba and he would know someone, so many were his acquaintances. Bob made a daily trip (most days twice) to the pool hall. Pool was his passion. Dad was very good at the game but serious competition was never something he was comfortable with. He also loved to play cards and was one of a kind, which didn't get him far in cards, but got him a long way in life. He would good naturedly cheat on you in cards but never would as a friend. In fact, Dad was a generous man to a fault often helping out family and friends to the detriment to his own welfare. Enjoying the simple life was Dad's motto. Spending time with his daughter Joan and her family in Killarney made his life complete. Being close to two grandkids and five great-grandchildren was something he was very grateful for. Bob was predeceased by his parents Bill and Ellen Wright; his elder brother Charles, who died in France in 1944; and his grandson Richard (Ric) Bomford in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice, daughter Robin (Craig) Sinkwich, granddaughter Jennifer (Mick) Zuroski, grandson David Sinkwich; daughter Joan (Merv) Bomford, granddaughter Tari (Barry) Conrad, great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Mitchell Conrad, grandson Sean Bomford, great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Justin and Dylan Bomford; and son Bill (Pat) Wright. He is also survived by his younger brother Glen.
