He is survived by his children, Grant, Rudy (Lynda), Ottawa and Louise (Peter); his brothers, Morris (Barbara), Ed (Marion), Bill (Gail); his sisters, Maria and Rose, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rudy was predeceased by his wife Agnes, of 42 years; his brother John, and his parents, Joseph and Emelia. He was born in Malonton and soon moved to Winnipeg and completed his education. He then worked at Ketchen's Printing. After that he enlisted in the army but was not called to battle. The war ended shortly and he returned to Ketchen's Printing where he met his wife Agnes, whom he enjoyed a happy marriage of 42 years with. He then took employment at the Winnipeg Post Office where he started as a sortation clerk. Upon the new coding system coming into being, he was put in charge of helping to set up the system. After it was completed, he then became the supervisor of that department until he retired after 30 years of service, in 1980. He was known as a kind and gentle man and well liked by everyone that knew him. He liked various building projects and was a skilled craftsman. His hobbies included gardening and making great wine with his brother Moe. He also was very close to all of his brothers and sisters and regularly attended family functions. (including going to his brother Bill's cabin.) He also enjoyed going on trips with his daughter Louise to North and South Dakota which they did many times. (They were close to each other.) He was very close to his son Rudy (Junior) and similar in many ways. Together they completed a lot of building projects that took great skill, both were mechanically minded and great craftsmen. They also enjoyed shopping around for various types of meats, like European sausages and salamis, and talking about their favourite meats. He was close with his son Grant and they both were big sports fans. They watched a lot of NFL football, curling and golf together. Dad was a big time curling fan of both the men's and women's game. Most importantly his family always came first and he was always there if you needed help. He was a great great dad, and we will miss you greatly. Bye for now dad, we'll see you in the afterlife From Grant, Rudy and Louise. Cremation has taken place and there will be a small, private graveside service for close family, friends and neighbours at Green Acres Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 followed by a small reception at Wheeler Funeral Chapel (211 Regent Avenue West).
