WILLIAM (ROY) PATON

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (ROY) PATON July 16, 1925 - April 6, 2008 Peacefully after a brief illness, with his family by his side, Roy Paton passed away at the age of 82 years. Roy was predeceased by his beloved wife Audrey, his parents William and Ada. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Carla (Gary) Gellman, grandchildren, Brian and Rachel; son Bruce (Shelly); sister Mavis Blais, her sons, David, Donald, Mark, and Roland and their families, numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was a veteran of the Canadian Air Force and a graduate of the University of Manitoba. He married Audrey in 1952 then relocated to Oakville, ON, where they raised their family. After working in the investment business for 25 years Roy and Audrey transferred back to Winnipeg in 1975. He worked for the the Workers Compensation Board until retirement. In retirement he kept active working for Core of Commissionaires in CancerCare, bowling, and spending family time with his many nieces, nephews and visiting his grandchildren in California. Dad loved all sports. He was a very talented athlete excelling in both hockey and soccer. In recognition of his talent he was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame for Soccer. He was active in coaching and volunteering both for his children and the community. Knobby touched the lives of many. His unselfish spirit will be remembered by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Roy's family would like to extend a special thank you to Doug (Joan) Carter and their children, Lee and Jennifer for their support and loving care.
