Date of Passing: Apr 05, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES WILLIAM DANCE April 4, 1953 - April 5, 2008 Suddenly on Saturday, April 5, 2008, a dear husband and father left us at the age of 55. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia, his three children Leila, Twila (Jeff) of Vernon, BC and Corey (Coral) and grandson Braeden. He had two aunts from both sides of the family, Irene Ricord and Margaret Dance and several cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Charles and Mary Dance. Charles known by everyone as Bill was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, moved to Dauphin in 1968 where he met Pat. They married in Winnipeg on September 1, 1973 and have lived in Transcona ever since. Bill worked for the CNR for 39 years, starting at age 16 working in the hostile in Dauphin, training in The Pas, and working the rest of his career at Symington Yards in Winnipeg as a conductor. Bill was very active in his Union. He was their Treasurer for 30 years, and held a position as Local Chairman. For the last 10 or more years he held the position as Canadian Auditor for Canada for CN and CP for the United Transportation Union. He was held in great regard in his job and fellow brothers and sisters of the UTU. Dad, you were our rock, our sound mind, and our voice of reason. You were always there for us whenever we needed you. You will now be our Guardian Angel, the hand we faintly feel on our shoulders when a decision will need to be made. We know you are looking down on us and we promise to remember you in the stories and laughter. There will always be a presence that only you can fill, Big Guy. We love you so much and will never forget you. A memorial service and celebration of Bill's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., with Rev. Bill Oakley officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow. The family wishes to thank the Winnipeg Police Services and Fire and Paramedic Services for their kindness and compassion during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bill to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
