Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN HARRISON September 6, 1912 March 22, 2008 Steve was born in Valley River, MB. He was an athletic young man and had a reputation as a good soccer player. He was talented musically, playing the double bass fiddle as a member of the Len Pattendan Dance Band at the Winnipeg Beach Pavilion and the Roseland Dance Gardens. He was especially fond of Cuban, Mexican and Spanish music. During the early forties he was employed by INCO in Sudbury. Upon returning to Winnipeg he worked as an insurance agent with Hammarstrand and Greenius, then with Milnco. For a brief period he also worked for Travel Unlimited. He loved to travel and visited Europe, (especially enjoying the city of Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia), Barbados, Mexico and Texas. As an ardent gardener on Red River Boulevard he enjoyed the fruits of his labour by holding garden parties and sharing the bounty. His little red tractor' was put to good use annually in growing beautiful flowers (particularly gladiolas), fruits and vegetables. He was predeceased by his wife Anne, brothers John and Walter, sister-in-law Winnie and brother-in-law Maxwell Swerdlow. Stephen is survived by sister Anne Swerdlow, brother William (Isadora), sister Olive Cohen (Philip), sister-in-law Mary, numerous nephews and nieces and their families, and dear friend Isabel Southall. The family wishes to express their appreciation to The Holy Family Nursing Home and to the Seven Oaks General Hospital. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.
