OLLIE (OLGA) OBERTON Peacefully, with family at her side, on Monday, April 7, 2008, at the Portage District General Hospital, Ollie (Olga) Oberton of Portage la Prairie, widow of the late Joseph Oberton, passed away at the age of 83 years. Funeral Mass will be held at the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Father Michael Wollbaum officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Mom was born on May 1, 1924 in Winnipeg, MB to William and Mary Kaluznick where she was raised and received her education. After finishing her schooling she worked at a couple of different jobs until she met Joseph Oberton and on July 28, 1951 they were married. They lived in Winnipeg for a year then they moved to Oakville before purchasing a farm in the Poplar Point district where they farmed until 1998 when they moved to Portage. Mom loved sewing, gardening, flower gardening and arranging, cake decorating and quilting. She enjoyed attending the Portage Terrier hockey games. She was a hard working farm wife . Predeceased by her parents; husband Joseph; brother Ed; sisters, Zoe, and Nellie; brother-in-law Frank Obertanec. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters: Connie (Tom) Gretsinger of Portage and grandchildren, Michael, Rick (Lisa) and great-grandchild Coltyn; daughter Louise Oberton of Swan River; brothers, Stan (Bev) Kaluznick and Walter (Stella) Kaluznick; sisters, Stephie Gill and Minnie Kaluznick; sister-in-law Olga Kaluznick; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation Inc., 24 9th St. S.E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4.   • I remember Ollie when I was a kid. I remember going to their place with my parents. My mother used to work with Ollie at Swift Packers in St. Boniface. All I remember is playing with Louise when we visited and I remember them coming to visit us in Somerset of which is straight south of Poplar Point. My mother is the late Beatrice (Tiny) Champagne.
