RUTH JONES Ruth Jones (nee Brownlee), aged 95, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2008 after a brief illness. Ruth and her husband Walt were originally from Iowa and moved to Northwest Ontario in 1958 where they lived until Walt's passing in 2001. Ruth moved to Winnipeg in 2002 where she lived on her own until she left us to rejoin Walt. They had been married 67 years at the time of his death. Ruth was the fifth of 10 children, all of whom pre-deceased her. She and Walt had one daughter who passed away in 2002. She is survived by her granddaughter Michelle and great-grandson Andy, who will keenly feel her loss. Ruth and Walt were remarkable people who positively touched the lives of many others from all walks of life: young, old and in between. They were adopted as parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle by many including: George, Bill, Dick, Bev, Doug and Kay. It would be remiss not to extend an acknowledgement and special thanks to Doug and Kay who were her near constant companions and couldn't have looked after her any better if she had been their own mother. At Ruth's request, there will be no funeral service. On July 7, which would have been their 75th wedding anniversary, Ruth's ashes will join Walt's in a private family ceremony. And so Ruth, until we meet again, we love you and will miss you and are grateful to have had you in our lives.
