Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES (CHUCK) GILBERTSON August 25, 1954 April 6, 2008 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a companion, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Charles (Chuck) Gilbertson passed away at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on April 6, 2008. He was born in Kenora on August 25, 1954 and lived here his entire life. He attended Keewatin Public School and Beaver Brae Secondary School. As an adult he started his working life with the Ministry of Natural Resources; first fighting fires but went on to obtain his diploma as a Forestry Technician. Lastly, since he loved to build things, he did a career change, obtained his carpenter's certification and worked in the construction field until his untimely passing. Chuck took great pride in his work and would become very frustrated when, as he put, things weren't being done right. He was a kind and generous individual and if anyone needed a helping hand he would be there. Chuck was a member of the Carpenter's Union, also The Harley Riders Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent much of his spare time hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his sister Penny Spendlow (April 8, 1992), his grandparents Jessie and John Hyatt, Eva (Gilbertson) Walker, Sigurd Gilbertson and Fred Walker; also several Aunts and Uncles. To so miss him and cherish his memory he leaves behind his loving companion and partner Maureen Goold, his loving daughter Jessica, also Maureen's children, Kendra, Rory and Sean; his parents Madeline and Harold; brother Doug (Deb), their girls, Shandi (Brian) and Randi; sisters: Brenda (David) Kantola and Emmy; Kari (Neil) Otke, their children, Zachary, Nathan and Erin; Sheri (Grant) Erickson and their daughter Kendall; brother-in-law Ed Spendlow (Deb) and his boy John (Kellee), their girls, Mazzy and Rayah. His extended family Maureen's mother, sisters, brothers, and all his buddies in the Harley Riders Club and the Construction trades. Chuck will also be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was such a vital part of our lives and we shall all miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Emergency Fund would be greatly appreciated. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Kenora Community Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow at the Kenora Legion Branch 12.
