Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADINA (SCHINKEL) SOBERING There's one more angel in heaven! Adina Sobering, of East Kildonan, was called home by our dear Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2008, after a courageous, but private, battle with cancer. Adina, in her 87th year, was born on November 5, 1921 at Friedinsfeld, Manitoba. Growing up on a farm in southern Manitoba, she married her sweetheart from across the road, Edward Sobering, just prior to his going overseas in the Second World War. They lived briefly in Steinbach before settling in Morris, Manitoba where Adina was kept busy looking after the home and her two children, Charles and Carol. It was also during this time that Adina became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, for which she recently received her 50-year pin. They moved to Winnipeg where she worked hard at raising her two children and providing a good home for her family. The last seven years before retirement, Ed and Adina owned and operated Interlake Sewing Machines, a Singer shop in Selkirk, Manitoba. Adina was a very determined lady all of her life. Testament to this is the fact that she always wanted to get her driver's license and did so at the young age of 62! It was also at this time that she took courses to upgrade her education to receive her equivalent of grade 11. Adina was a proud member of the Sherwood Park Lutheran Church where she enjoyed activities with the Senior's Group and the Quilter's Group. Adina is predeceased by her parents, Christina and Gottlieb Schinkel; six sisters; three brothers; and her husband, Edward Sobering. She is survived by her son Edward Charles (Paula) of Kitchener, Ontario; her daughter Patricia Carol Cioci (Michael) of Burlington, Ontario and six grandchildren; Ryan, Benjamin, Scott, Joshua, Valarie and Paul. Also survived by her sister-in-law Frances Rasmussen; nieces Evelyn Rohn of Langley, B.C., Lillian Schultz, Winona Kling and Marlene Klassen of Winnipeg; Beverley Kehler and Shirley Penner of Steinbach; nephews Ken Stein and Barry Schinkel of Winnipeg, and Dennis Heckert and Randy Schinkel of Regina, Saskatchewan. A visitation will be held at Cropo's Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. (at Inkster) on Thursday, April 10, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Cres. (at London St.) on Friday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Cioci (her favourite son-in-law), Robert Schultz, Barry Schinkel, Jim Sobering, Walter Sobering, Henry Sobering and Ken Stein (Honorary). A special Thank You' to Evelyn Bradley who Adina considered to be her Guardian Angel' and Ken Stein who assisted her faithfully whenever needed, as well as to all her friends, especially Derek Alexander. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Adina's memory can be made to a charity of their choice. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB Toll Free 1-877-776-2220
