BARBARA EMELIE CHWARTACKI (nee GODFREY) June 23, 1941 to April 4, 2008 Peacefully on April 4, 2008 at the Selkirk Hospital with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer, Barbara Chwartacki, aged 66 years of Selkirk, MB. went on to her final resting place. She joins her deceased partner Ralph and mother Alice. She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Todd (Bonnie) and their children Rielle and Tanner, Keith (Helen) and their children Chris, Kalie and Sarah and Jason (Alanna), as well as her sister Beverley (Gary) and their daughter Katrina. She also leaves many in-laws and special outlaws as well as nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews whom she loved very much and especially enjoyed their visits. There was also a very special place in her heart for all her neighbors and friends. Barbara was a teacher by trade but more so an educator in life. Education was paramount. Her selflessness was a testament to this. She was truly a stand out for her time for she said how she felt. She was involved in many community and volunteer groups, not to mention the sports, music or art lessons her sons were active in. She enjoyed her gardening and family camping trips as well as a few Steeler games now and again. Her and Dad thoroughly enjoyed time in the backyard with family and friends. But what she enjoyed the most by far were her kids and grandchildren, whom she loved very much and always had time for. Barbara was many things to many people, teacher, volunteer, friend, wife, sister but most importantly she was mom and grandma. Mum, you will be sadly missed and forever remembered. Your strength and determination of life is an inspiration to us and to all who knew you. A memorial service will be held on Monday April 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be much appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
