Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY OVERSBY On the evening of April 7, 2008 at his home in Ashern Roy took his last ride. His loving wife Vi of 53 years was by his side. Roy was born in a log cabin along the Riding Mountains on July 29,1924. He was the second of six children, four boys, two girls born to Alice and Steven Oversby. He grew up breaking horses, hunting, trapping and helping on the family farm. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and served overseas until 1946 when he was honourably discharged. After returning home, he worked for CP Telegraph for awhile and then joined Manitoba Hydro in 1949. Roy moved to Ashern in 1954 to work for Manitoba Hydro as a District Supervisor. He married Violet Cleave in 1955 and Ashern became their home. They were blessed with three sons. Roy loved to ride horses, hunt, fish, trap, sing and play the banjo. Roy was predeceased by his father Steven and his mother Alice, his sister Isabelle, brothers Bob, Frank and Howard. Roy will lovingly be remembered by his wife Violet, his sons Dale (C.J.), Brent (Jody), Craig (Doreen), his grandchildren Logan, Brianna, Zoe, Steven, Owen, Jan and Dalan, his sisters-in-law Rita Oversby, Ruth Oversby and Lucy Oversby along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. A celebration of Roy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Ashern with Melanie Kaupilla officiating. Service will conclude at the hall with a luncheon to follow and a private family interment will be held at a later date. Active pallbearers will be the seven Oversby nephews Ron, Gary, Larry, Allan, Ardel, David and Jason. Honourary pallbearers will be Bonnie Oversby, Chandra Wilkinson, Diane Bishop and Gail Gamble, as well as everyone in attendance. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD.
