Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN JOAN DURADO June 3, 1920 - April 4, 2008 Our beloved mother and grandmother, Kay, passed away peacefully and with dignity on April 4, 2008 at the Park Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 87 years. Kay was predeceased by her husband Victor, son Victor, her mother and father, and her sister Lil. Kay is survived by her daughter Maureen, grandchildren, Derek (Faith), and Amanda, great-grandson Kyle, also numerous relatives in England and Africa, most notably her cousin Teresa whom she visited numerous times. Kay was born on June 3, 1920 in Cork, Ireland and moved to England as a young child. During the Second World War she served as a parachute packer with the British Air Force. In 1944 she met the love of her life Victor, who was serving with the Fort Garry Horse, they were married on March 1, 1945. Kay came to Winnipeg with the first wave of war brides, landing in Canada on February 14, 1946. Kay worked at The Bay downtown for many years. Kay and Vic loved to dance. They were members of a square-dancing club and liked to go to the legion on a Saturday night with friends. After Vic had his strokes Kay looked after him at home and later at Deer Lodge Centre and Park Manor Personal Care Home going to visit him almost daily. The family would like to thank the Staff of Park Manor for caring and supporting Kay in her final months. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kay's name to the Alzheimer's Society, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2.
