FRED WHEELER JR. Sadly, in the early hours of March 13, 2008, Fred suddenly passed away at Victoria Beach, MB where he resided. He is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Guarino (Ron) and Brenda Otter (Murray), as well as nieces, Jodi Martin, Jenny Kochenash and Lindsay Otter, and nephews, Jay Guarino, Evan and Kyle Otter. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Ebony, Billy, Chase and Terry. He was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Lillian and Fred Sr. Fred was born on November 28, 1941 in Winnipeg. He worked for many years with the City of Winnipeg Sign Department, retiring in October, 2003. He was well known by many at Victoria Beach for walking his dogs, faithfully, three times a day. He lived a simple, but peaceful life, and enjoyed all that nature had to offer. We will miss his morning coffee breaks during the summer months. The family wishes to thank the many people involved in helping Fred in his time of need: Kevin Ateah and the Victoria Beach First Responders, Police Chief Stewart MacPherson, Selkirk Paramedics, Pine Falls Hospital and Fire Chief Brad Patzer and wife Tracey. Special thanks to the wonderful team of friends for looking after Fred's dogs until homes could be found - Kevin and Sandra Ateah, Mindy Wilson, Collin and Jill Roy, and to Carl and Nancy Ateah and Percy Lewis for their friendship to Fred over the years. A memorial service will be held for Fred on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Church on 8th Avenue, Victoria Beach, MB with Rev. Judy Whitmore presiding. Reception to follow in the Senior's Scene on Highway 59 and Ateah Road. Cremation has taken place through Wheeler Funeral Chapel. A private family burial in the local cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to a cause close to Fred's heart: East Beaches Animal Shelter, Box 51, Victoria Beach, MB R0E 2C0.
