Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE JAMES MCKILLOP Peacefully, on Friday, April 11, 2008, George McKillop passed away at his residence at the age of 86 years. George was predeceased by his beloved wife Jeannie (nee Ritchie) in 1998; his brothers Charles, Lorne and Wesley and his sister Mary Morris. He is survived by his sons, Brian and Gary McKillop, and their wives Pauline (of Ottawa) and Mary-Anne; grandsons Cory McKillop and his wife Cynthia, and Hamish McKillop (of Ottawa); granddaughter Christy and her husband Shane and two great-grandchildren Ewan McKillop and Ella Neufeld. George was born in New Brunswick on September 23, 1921. He moved to Winnipeg as a child and lived in the Brooklands area. He and Jeannie were married on September 20, 1941, and enjoyed a short honeymoon in Kenora. Soon after their wedding, George was sent overseas to serve with the 410 Squadron of the RCAF. Following a career as a welder and a construction worker he started working for the Winnipeg School Division No. 1 as a custodian, retiring in September of 1986. George was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. His fondest memories included the summers spent with his grandchildren at Lac Lu, frequent trips to Ottawa to visit his grandson Hamish, and a trip to France in 2002. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. A private family committal of his ashes will take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Ample parking is available behind the funeral home.
