Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERA CATHERINE NILSSON (nee Chudleigh) On April 11, 2008, at Concordia Place nursing home, Vera passed away at the age of 83, peacefully in her sleep. Predeceased by her husband Albert and her parents, Fred and Jessie; brother Brian and sister-in-law Anne; and brothers-in-law Kenneth and Eric. She is survived and will be missed by her sons Rick (Nancy) and granddaughter Laura; Jim and grandchildren Lars, Dana (Brian), Eric (Nataline), Kara and daughter-in-law Helen; daughter Cathy (Rob Walker) and grandchildren Karina and Michael; and sister-in-law Elsie Nelson. Vera was born in Birds Hill, Manitoba on February 19, 1925. She attended school in Birds Hill and graduated grade 12 from United College in Winnipeg. On July 21, 1951, Vera and Albert were married. Except for a brief stint in Birds Hill, they resided in East and North Kildonan. Vera worked at the Eaton's Downtown Post Office and Information Desk before moving to a long career with K-Mart on Henderson Highway, retiring in 1990. Jephthah Chapter No. 22 of the Order of the Eastern Star was Vera's extended family, being a member for over 50 years. She also enjoyed crosswords, reading and family dinners. After suffering a stroke in May of 2002, Vera resided at Concordia Place for almost five years. We would like to thank the staff for their wonderful care and compassion shown to her. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Pallbearers will be Owen Clarke, Ed Haluschak, Gary Keedian, Roy Maguire, Don Vermette and Ray Walker. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
