MARILEE KATHRYN HARDER Sadly, after a brief illness, Marilee Harder passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning, April 11, 2008 at the age of 36 years. Marilee leaves to mourn her 11 year old son Jonathan, her parents Helmut and Irma Harder, her brother Bryan Harder (Cheryl Pauls) and their children, Nicholas and William, and her brother Randall Harder (fiancé Libid Zyla), all of Winnipeg. As well, her loss is deeply felt by numerous relatives and a host of friends. Marilee was born on June 23, 1971. She joined our family on the 12th day after her birth. She was a happy child with a friendly disposition. She enjoyed her childhood environs surrounding her River Heights home. She took special joy in family camping trips and visits to relatives in Southern Ontario. She looked forward to summer camp at her favourite place, Camp Assiniboia. In later years she served on camp staff there, especially with the horse program. Marilee's formal education included five years at Queenston Public School, two years at Winnipeg Mennonite Elementary School, three years at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate, one year at Morrison Christian Academy in Taiwan, two years at Mennonite Collegiate Institute, one year at Canadian Mennonite Bible College, and eventually the two year Health Care program at Red River Community College. She loved participation in school choirs, especially the C.M.B.C. Singers. She regarded her school experiences as an extended social event. Church connections were important to Marilee. She was baptized upon her confession of faith at Charleswood Mennonite Church in 1989. Recently she transferred her membership to Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church where many of her friends attend. Marilee relied on her firm faith in God to guide her in good and in difficult times. Marilee was a people person, frank in her expressions, yet endowed with a warm caring spirit and a contagious laugh that readily drew friends into her social circle. She was appreciated at her places of work, most recently in the Grace Hospital I.C.U. Over the years Marilee and her son Jonathan cultivated a close relationship of mutual respect and faithful support. She deeply appreciated her parents' guidance and love. Marilee will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street on Tuesday, April 15 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street, Wednesday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. A trust fund has been established to support Jonathan's long term education and his cherished camp experiences. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I remember Marilee from WMES, numerous Mennonite conference and church gatherings. I've been thinking about her recently and remembered the last time my wife and her met in Winnipeg a number of years ago at the Common Ground. It was a poor choice of restaurant on my part, and our visit was not as I had hoped. I'll miss her until we meet again. - Posted by: Jerry Klippenstein (friend) on: Sep 07, 2014
