Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN (RUTH) AGLAND (nee ARMSTRONG) Peacefully, in her sleep, on April 13, 2008, Ruth passed away at the age of 90 years. Ruth was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 26, 1917 and had three sisters. Her given name was Lillian Ruth, but she was known to most of us as Ruthie and to her granddaughters as Grand Lilly. Ruthie remained a resident of Winnipeg until 2002 when she re-located to La Salle Manitoba to live with her family. Ruthie was predeceased by her loving husband Maurice of 56 years in 2001. Ruthie leaves to mourn her passing her only daughter Barbara, son-in-law Ken, granddaughters, Stephanie and Alexa. She also leaves one sister, nieces, nephews and life long friends. Ruthie was known as a devoted wife, loving mother and wonderful grandmother. Ruthie was a great storyteller and loved talking! She was never at a loss for words, had a quick wit, good sense of humor and was known for her upbeat personality and will be fondly remembered for her zest for life. She supported her community and enjoyed assisting with the assembly of the local community newsletter every month with her daughter Barbara. Ruthie was a proud and independent woman who lived a full, happy and active life for 90 years until her recent accident. She enjoyed the simple things in life and lived each day to the fullest. She had fun at whatever she did! Family and friends who knew Ruthie will forever miss her and cherish her memory. Her pride and joy were her two granddaughters who were the ones that gave her the special name of Grand Lilly and she treasured every moment she spent with both of them. Stephanie and Alexa were her best buddies in the entire world! Her hobbies included reading (at least five books a week!) sewing, knitting, bus tours south of the border and watching movies with her granddaughters. She also enjoyed looking after the family dog, Casey and always made sure Casey had lots of treats! See you later alligator In a while crocodile In respect of Ruthie's wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Children's Wish Foundation Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3J2 or a charity of your choice. Ruthue and Uncle Mo will always have a special place in my thoughts and memories as they were a big part of my life as a child and as an adult. Growing up I always got excited if I knew they were coming over....it spelled fun! After Roy and I were married we spent many an evening playing Bridge having dinner and chatting. We sure had a great visit when they 'trailered' to Cranbrook. Our visiits to Winnipeg meant having fun with Ruthie and Mo who are one in our hearts. We'll miss our Little Ruthie as we have Uncle Mo. - Posted by: Trudy and Roy Messing (Family) on: Apr 17, 2008
