MITCHELL ZOOKE 1915 2008 With love and great sadness, peacefully on April 13, 2008 at the age of 92 our beloved husband, father, grandfather and papa passed away at home with his family at his side. Mitch leaves behind to mourn his wife Mae of 64 years of marriage, children Elaine Protano (Ray), Brenda Galbraith (Graham), Carol Simpkin (Bert), grandchildren Ryan (Michelle), Kyle (Jennifer), Chelsey, Michael (Kim), great grandchildren Cody, Jaeda and Avery and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Dad was born in Manitoba and raised in Winnipeg. He was in the Navy, then he worked at Winnipeg Hydro, Metropolitan Life and lastly at the Winnipeg Post Office. Mitch led a very active life, curling, bowling, bingo, crib and golfing till he was almost 90 years of age. He also loved the horse races and the VLT's. In his last home he took up cards, bingo and his favorite shuffle board. Mitch liked to always be busy and was always willing to help anyone. He was a member of the Army Navy Airforce #283 and #2 Legion Brooklands Weston and he volunteered his time helping seniors. He was always gentle and kind to everyone. We wish to thank all the special people who helped to make Mitch's last two years living at home possible his private care givers especially Brenda, Janis, Sara, Sylvia, Bob and Stuart and a special thanks to Brenda's friend Marcia. Also a special thank you to Barb Shorey at home care and lastly Palliative care especially nurse Michelle. He touched the lives and hearts of all who knew him. He was a vital part of our lives and we cherish all the wonderful years we shared with him. We admire his loving devotion to his wife Mae, always looking out for her. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one of Mitch's favorite charities the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. on Thursday April 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. We miss you and love you! You are forever in our thoughts and hearts.
