BERYL OLIVIA ROSEMARY EYFORD Peacefully on April 11, 2008 at the age of 75, our dear and loving Auntie Beryl Eyford passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Beryl was born on October 10, 1932 in New Westminster, BC where she was raised and completed her schooling. Beryl's father Otto received a transfer to Winnipeg through his employment with CN Railway and the family relocated to Winnipeg from Vancouver in 1953. After settling in Winnipeg, Beryl was employed all her working life at Acklands Ltd., retiring in 1993 as Assistant Comptroller and Pension Manager for the company. She continued as a part time pension consultant for another five years. Beryl traveled a fair amount, both as part of her job and for pleasure. Predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Otto, her sister Thelva Barry and brother-in-law Bryan, brother Barry and sister-in-law Faye. Beryl leaves to cherish her memory her niece Shannon Barry and her son Dakota, nephew Steve Barry and his daughter Tiara and his fiancé Sandra and her sons, Keith and Ryan, niece Leanne Stewart, husband John and their son Garrett, nephew Eric Eyford, wife Angeline and their children Alicia, Kirian, Rylan and Rorey, dear friends Anne and George Wakshinski and family. Until her health intervened Beryl was an avid bowler and curler and with her mother had been founding members of the Vancouver Business Girls Curling Club prior to moving to Winnipeg. She had a lifetime love of the sports hockey, football and golf. Beryl was a long time member of Quota International of Winnipeg, serving in all the offices of the club and as District Governor, Lt. Governor and Secretary Treasurer. She was also a Life Member of the Council of Women of Winnipeg, much enjoying the associations of these dedicated women. Beryl's personal life was centered on her family and was able to spend precious time with her nieces and nephews with a lot of great memories at Grand Beach and Lester Beach, and in later life with her great nieces and nephews. After the loss of her sister and brother, Beryl prepared for each niece and nephew an oral history and photo album tracing the family back five generations on the paternal side and six generations on the maternal side. We will miss Our Auntie so much as she brought such strength, support and wisdom to us, she was our rock and the matriarch of the Eyford family. Thanks to the compassion and care of the nursing staff on the third floor at Concordia Hospital. A celebration of her life will take place at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. on Friday, April 18th, 2008 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
