Born October 14 in Stuttgart, Germany. Egon was the eldest of four children. He leaves to mourn his passing five children, Linda Schnerch, Helmut Hammer (Linda), Werner Hammer from B.C., Aneta Phillips (Greg), Waltraud King (Ken) and adopted daughter Paulette Desaulniers. A brother Carl and sister Paula (Germany), 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special nephew Nelson Capuska (Maureen) and Sandra. Lifelong friends Fred Offenloch (Margot) and family. Very special family friend Rose Rostek; God Bless her for all she has done for Dad. Many more special friends and family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Margarete (2006), his first wife Elly (1975), his parents, sister Ruth Hengsberger (Leopold) of Austria and his beloved Tanti Toni (Ravensburg, Germany) whom he cherished dearly. Egon was a tailor by trade. He was a man of very few words. Listening to all, taking it all in and always smiling. He loved to do crafts, making furniture from clothespins and also helped Margarete do hers. Loved sewing, watching sports (hockey, soccer, football), fishing and bowling. In his younger years he played soccer a lot. Egon's best times were spent at his cottage in Beaconia Beach, where he would sit outside all day with a karafe of coffee, listening to nature and looking at its beauty. He loved being outside. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge, Oak Unit nurses and aides, other residents and all who gave care and kindness to Egon. He loved you all. He always said this is my home and I love it . A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19 at 9:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 0B8 in memory of Egon. Now there will be two shining stars up above; Dad joining Mom. Love ya Dad CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
