Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE MAY DAWES (nee MARTIN) 1919 - 2008 Peacefully and with dignity and courage, Alice May Dawes passed away at Kin Place in Oakbank, Manitoba on April 12, 2008. Remaining to celebrate her life are her children, Glenn Bell (Susanne), Dennis Bell (Diane), Sheila Berezuk (Gerry), Heather Ostop, son-in-law Bob Ostop; grandchildren, Wesley (Lynn), Jennifer, Pamela and Andrew; her chosen family (the Kiernans) Frances (John), Teresa (Bob), Sean, Kathy (David) and their children, Derek, Cody, Matthew, Joshua and Luke. She is also survived by her sisters, Ellen Kennedy and Irene Walstrom and sisters-in-law Margaret Martin and Lillian Herda and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Mom was predeceased by her mother and father, brothers, Gordon, Wallace and Stewart, son Bruce, first husband William Bell and second husband Edgar Dawes. Mom was born and raised in Minitonas, Manitoba and then moved to Winnipeg as a young adult. After successful careers in healthcare and as a seamstress; mom followed her artistic nature and opened her ceramic studio. A special heartfelt thank you goes to the staff and her friends at Kin Place. She was not only cared for but truly loved by all. There are no words to thank you enough for cherishing her in the same way her family did. The family also wishes to extend a thank you to Dr. Kowaluk. At Alice's request, cremation has taken place, and a memorial to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Little Britain United Church, (5879 Hwy. #9, Lockport, MB) with reception to follow. Flowers are lovingly declined. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Winnipeg Humane Society. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that we had so many years. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone.
